Jared has studied violin for ten years. He served as Concertmaster of The Roanoke Symphony Youth Orchestra and is a string substitute for the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra.
Jared currently studies violin with Wanchi Huang, Music Professor at James Madison University. He previously studied with Akemi Takayama, Concertmaster of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, and member of The Audubon Quartet; and Benedict Goodfriend, member of the Kandinsky Trio.
Jared placed in the Roanoke Youth Symphony's Young Artist Competition twice: 3rd place in 2005 and 1st place in 2007. First place awarded him a solo with the Roanoke Youth Symphony at their final spring concert in May 2008. He played Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso by Saint Saens. In April 2008, he and Rachel placed 1st in AWANA's Summit National Fine Arts Awards, both receiving scholarships. In 2007, he placed first in a Sonata Festival at East Tennessee State University. The Hall Trio also placed first in their chamber music division. In 2005, he won 1st place in the National Fine Arts Competition at AWANA's Summit Quizzing in St. Louis.
Jared has been a weekly contributor of music to his local church and volunteers regularly to provide music for local nursing homes and other non-profit organizations. Jared has had opportunities to play with ensembles from Virginia Tech, and JMU. Jared plans to pursue a music career and will attend a music conservatory in 2010.
